Letter from the author, David M Jacobson, MSW, LCSW

If you got this far, you are probably already a highly humorous person planning to become even more highly humorous.
You understand the importance of a highly developed sense of humor. That's great news. You are or want to become an HHP
(Highly Humorous Person), and

That's why this book is about humor habits, because your habits affect how you feel every single day.

I am so excited that you have come to this page to learn how The 7 1/2 Habits of Highly Humorous People can help you as an HHP.
This is quite a unique book. Oh sure, there are self-help books on many personal development topics, but few of them focus on
developing the sense of humor which is so central to our well-being.

You can even find several humor books, some on humor tips. I should know; I have been researching humor for the past twenty years.
After reading much of the research, I was disappointed in the writing styles of most researchers. This research is excellent yet it is
mostly the dry research that you expect from the field of social science. Below this letter is more information about some of the fun you will experience through this book..

With much humor for your habits,
David M Jacobson, The Humor Habit Guy

(REAL NAME)
Life is funny if you let it be. Even when you feel like it shouldn't be, deep down in your spirit there is humor waiting to giggle out into the world. David M. Jacobson reminds us to let the laughter loose in his book, "The 7 ½ Habits of Highly Humorous People." It isn't a joke book, but it is a delightful reminder to watch for the jokes in life, even, or maybe especially, the ones that are on you.

David has had his fair share of jokes played on him. Is he bitter? Not that I could tell. He emits happiness through the pages of his book. He shares joy and it's contagious. Be warned that you will not be able to read this book without cracking a smile and likely will come away from it a better person. Of the 7 ½ habits you'll learn about, I think the half habit is the most important and the best way to get started on changing your life. Simply, it is to change the way you think. Not a simple task! Turning the negative thought into a positive one is challenging, but the rewards are immeasurable. What finding the positive does for yourself is life changing, and the thoughts you share with others can have a profound influence on them. The other 7 habits are equally reflective and uplifting, from realizing that humor is a necessity to humorizing with humorgy (you'll have to read the book to find out what that means!); the lessons within this book are not meant to simply help a class clown to develop his style but to show the world the power of laughter.

David uses his self proclaimed necessary self-effacing humor to open his world to the reader. It becomes very easy to understand how he needed to let out those giggles and how it changed his life. Throughout the book he throws in one liners and obtuse observations and this made me laugh out loud. It is a funny read, but also a wonderful life lesson guide. Would you go to a guru who sits atop a unicycle? Maybe you should. This book is well written and easily accepted as truth. It holds deep insights regarding inner spirit and higher powers, and interpretations of classic comedy. This is a mix you cannot miss! I only wish it were longer and my visit with David were not over.

Why this is a BETTER book on humor habits.

There are several humor books that are inspirational, with funny anecdotes, sayings and quotations. I even recommend some in my own book, but they don't motivate readers to go beyond just reading and change their habits. Most don't give practical new habits to apply in day-to-day life. This book on humor has all the positive quotes and anecdotes you could soak up ... and it goes way beyond to give you practical ideas and useful tips to raise your daily humor habits to a higher level. You'll enjoy every humorous page crammed into this book.
Inside you'll find habits to ...
Decrease stress
Enhance relationships
Improve communication
Make you laugh out loud
Become less judgemental
Increase your ability to experience joy
Increase your ability to perceive humorous situations
Help you understand the difference between appropriate and inapprorpiate humor

Many humor books on the bookstore shelves are just some author's personal viewpoint. That's fine, if you happen to be extremely similar to the author. But what about facts? True, I include many of my own experiences in this book -- in fact, that's what inspired me to write. But I also spent the last twenty years reading journals, dissertations and other research. I have also spent the past 17 years talking to audiences about this very subject. This self-help book is based on both my personal experiences (I have lived with severe arthritis for 27 years) and the best research available. I've developed these habits based on this research and a lifetime of experiences. Now they're available to you.

Several humor research books are written by very knowledgeable authorities, but most tend to the boring side. Shouldn't a book on humor energize you? Motivate you? Inspire you? Pump you up? Shouldn't a book on humor be fun to read? Yes, I agree with you! So,as a humor habit kind of guy, I decided to write a fun, energetic, and engaging book.

NOTICE:
You've just found the best book ever written to help you develop your sense of humor: 7 1/2 humor habits  you can use to increase your humorous perspective  every day of your life.

What if you found just one habit  you could use that helped  you to be funnier?

Why did I go to so much effort to make this the very best book self help book on humor ever? Because I want you to be a winner. That's right ... a winner. The 7 1/2 Habits of Highly Humorous People will help you win the only game that counts ... your life. I get so excited about being able to share such valuable and meaningful information. Can you imagine how pumped up I get when one reader after the other tells me he or she "just couldn't put it down?"

If you don’t like the book, turn it into a positive experience anyway! Use your creative mind to come up with uses for it. Use it in the fireplace, emergency toilet paper, make paper airplanes out of the pages, cut out the middle and hide your drugs in it (I do mean prescription medications, of course).  Give it as a gift to someone you don’t like with a note that reads “You REALLY need this!” Give it to a kid to crayon in. Better yet, crayon all over it and then walk into your kid’s room, mad as hell and ask, “Who crayoned in this book?”
